PARENT TEACHER AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

What is the PTFA ?

The object of the Association is to advance the education of pupils in the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school.

What does the PTFA do ?

It raises money to fund items the school may not normally be able to provide out of a limited budget. One of the main ongoing examples is the purchase of mini-buses for the school; the school covers the maintenance etc. of the buses. Another recent example is the purchase of new curtains for the school hall and its stage, again a large sum that the school would find it hard to provide in the face of so many other urgent needs. It is not just the bigger things; the PTFA often provides smaller sums when departments have projects or purchases which will improve the school life of our children but which they might not be able to find easily within their budgets.

How does the PTFA raise money ?

It organises fund raising events throughout the year, runs a 100 Club and prepares and sells refreshments on various occasions. (For more detail on these events click here.)

How do I join ?

There is no joining fee or annual subscription and if you are a parent/guardian/carer of a child currently attending Mount Grace School you are automatically a member. Teachers at the school are automatically members.

What do I have to commit to ?

As much or as little as you choose. The committee normally meets once each half term (on a Monday night at 7.00p.m. in the School Library). The main officers are elected at the Annual General Meeting held in September soon after the start of the Autumn term and they are: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary; other posts are Social Secretary and Press Secretary. Clearly, these officers need to attend committee meetings consistently. However other members do not need to be as committed and although, of course, regular attendance would be good, any members are welcome to attend any meetings at any time. Your present Committee works very hard but we do need new people who may bring fresh ideas so please come along to find out what it's like - you don't need to be afraid that you are making a huge commitment of time for ever more and you might even enjoy yourself!

What is needed is your help and / or attendance at events.
