To meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, schools need to issue a Fair Processing Notice
to students and/or parents summarising the information held about students, why it is held,
and the third parties to whom it may be passed on.
The fair processing notice needs to cover the provision of information to the
Connexions services under the Learning and Skills Act 2000 and the rights of
parents or students to opt out from this.
